First Capstone Post!

Hi, I'm Maya Sande, a senior at Minnetonka High School! I'll be headed to Oregon State University in the fall to study environmental science and food science.

For my senior capstone project I will be headed to Nerstrand Big Woods State Park and Minneopa State Park, as well as spending a night in Mankato with my aunt as there are no campsites available that night. I will be going on this trip with my friend Ella and we are so excited! Our goal of this trip is to learn about and explore the parks as well as improve out camping skills. We have planned some fun meals that I will share on here and we will be spending a good chunk of each day hiking.

During this project we will explore the parks and look at the flora and fauna there. We also hope to talk to one or more park rangers and hear about their jobs and career path as both Ella and I are interested in conservation and wildlife biology. I plan to have a notebook with little ziplock bags where I can collect leaves and flowers and such and write down information about the plants and where they were found.
